'Ekota Express' earns highest in 9-month, Korotoa lowest

Last September, the average passenger occupancy in the intercity trains on the western region of Bangladesh Railway was 110 per cent.

It means, against every 100 seats, 110 passengers were transported. On the other hand, there were 94 passengers against every 100 seats on the eastern route.

Panchagarh-Dhaka-Panchagarh route 'Ekota Express' is the highest earning train in the ninth month of the year between the two regions.

Railways earned Tk 4 crore 16 lakh from the Ekota Express in September.

This data has been placed at a meeting of Bangladesh Railway Route Rationalisation on Tuesday where Railways Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, secretary Abdul Baki, Bangladesh Railway director Sarder Shahadat Ali were present.

Menawhile, Santahar-Nurimari-Santahar route 'Korotoa Express' train earned Tk 32,42,000.

Bangladesh Railways' activities are divided into two zones for administrative and operational convenience. Among them, the western region with Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions. A total of 58 intercity trains are operated in this region. Korotoa Express plying on Santahar-Burimari route earned the lowest in September.
