More than half of states across the country have closed their polls as voters wait to see whether Donald Trump or Kamala Harris will win the 2024 election.
Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican former president Donald Trump are battling it out for the White House, with polls gradually closing across the United States Tuesday and a long night of waiting for results expected.
Donald Trump has secured 188, out of 270 electoral votes, leading the race with projections showing him ahead in several key states. Kamala Harris follows with 99 electoral votes, according to the Associated Press.
Initial results are coming in, with Trump's wins so far in Alabama, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina and West Virginia.
Harris has so far captured Maryland, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Vermont and the US capital Washington, DC.
