Dr Atiar alleges career sabotage at BSMMU

Doctor Md Atiar Rahman, a paediatric specialist, has been severely deprived of his rights under the previous administration at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

Due to malicious intent, a faction within the university's management allegedly created numerous obstacles to hinder the doctor's promising career. They also attempted, sentimentally, to obstruct his opportunities for further studies, exams, promotions, and preferred postings in his field. Supporters within the administration, backed by the then ruling party, reportedly caused him to fail the Doctor of Medicine (MD) course examination seven times.

Additionally, he was not permitted to pursue another MD at Dhaka Shishu Hospital, and there were intentional efforts to transfer him to another workplace. Given these circumstances, Doctor Atiar has demanded his dues, promotion, and immediate posting, as stated in documents and confirmed by concerned parties.

According to records, Dr Atiar Rahman joined BSMMU as an honorary assistant professor on November 14, 2006 and has not received a single promotion in over 18 years, despite qualifying for a regular assistant professor position in 2008. He has thus been deprived of deserved promotions since August of that year.
