Fish marketing centre opened in Pirojpur

PIROJPUR, Nov 5: A fish landing and marketing centre was inaugurated at Parerhat fish port in the district on Monday morning.
 
 Chairman and Additional Secretary of the   Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation   (BFDC) Suraya Akhter Jahan attended the function as the chief guest while Deputy Commissioner  Mohammad Ashraful  Alam Khan presided over it.

Among others, Joint Secretary Shah Momen, Director of BFDC (Deputy Secretary) Aditya Chandra Das, Army  District  Camp In-Charge Lieutenant Colonel  Ariful Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Md Mukit Hasan Khan, District BNP Convener Principal Alamgir Hossain, Fisherman Cooperative Society Chairman Md Mohiuddin Mollick, and fish trader Mostafa Akon spoke. 

Speakers said, the government will earn huge revenue through the centre, and at the same time, fisherman of the coastal areas will be benefitted. At the cost of Tk 11,91,47,000, the government constructed the centre on 2.36 acres of land in Chitalia Village at Sankerpasa Union in Sadar Upazila. 

In 2021 the project was launched for hygienically fish collecting, processing, and marketing. A modern auction sell shade of 10,000 square metre, 50 stalls for  wholesalers, ice plant, double decor residential building for  persons involved for fish-related activities, office building gangway, pontoon, packaging set, inspection room generator, and sanitary drainage facilities have been included in the centre.
