Police arrested five people along with various arms, ammunition, and drugs from separate locations in Noakhali district on Monday night.
The information was provided by Md Ahsan Habib Polash, additional DIG of the Chittagong range, in a press briefing held at the Noakhali Police Super office on Tuesday.
The arrested individuals are Badol Hossain, 21; Nd Robin, 28; Md Bahar, 30; Anower Hossain, 26; and Murad Hossain, 22. All are residents of different upazilas in the district.
Acting on a tip-off, police set up a checkpoint in front of Sayed Plaza in the Sebarhat area under Senbag upazila on the Noakhali-Feni regional highway and began searching vehicles. At around 1:00 a.m., police checked a pick-up truck and detained three people with 12 kilograms of hemp and 10 firearms.
Later, police arrested two additional individuals after obtaining information from the arrested trio. They also recovered five foreign pistols, nine magazines, two local LGs, and 277 rounds of ammunition.
