Two minor children have drowned in separate incidents in two districts- Kishoreganj and Kurigram, on Monday and Tuesday.
KISHOREGANJ: A minor child drowned in a pond in Hossainpur Upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The accident took place in the morning in Purba Dwipeshwar Village at Araibaria Union of the upazila.
The deceased Eva Akter, 1.5, was the daughter of Himel Mia of that village.
According to locals, Eva was playing at home in the morning. At one stage, the family could not find her. Later on, relatives spotted her floating body in the pond next to their house. Immediately, she was taken to Hossainpur Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.
Araibaria Union Parishad Chairman Khurshid Uddin confirmed the matter.
KURIGRAM: A minor boy drowned in a pond in Nageshawri Upazila of the district on Monday.
The incident happened at around 7 am in Bamantari Village in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Meraz Babu, 4, son of Al Amin, a resident of the area.
Police said that Meraz suddenly fell into the pond while he was playing beside it and drowned. Later on, local people recovered his body from the pond.
Officer-in-Charge of Nagshwari Police Station Mizanur Rahman confirmed the incident.
