A mobile court fined three factories Tk 4.5 lakh for environmental pollution at Rupganj upazila in Narayanganj district on Monday.
The fined factories include Anik Knit Composite, ACS Textile, and Bikrampur Steel Mill.
The inspections were conducted from noon until evening by a mobile court led by the Assistant Commissioner (Land) in Bhulta, Rupshi, and Borpa areas of the upazila.
Rupganj Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate of the mobile court Tariqul Alam, told that they had received complaints about environmental pollution from several factories in the area. Following investigations, evidence of pollution was found in these three factories. Of them, Anik Knit Composite was fined Tk 1, 50,000, ACS Textile Mill Tk 1, 00,000, and Bikrampur Steel Mill Tk 2, 00,000.
Also present during the operation were Narayanganj District Environment Department's Deputy Director HM Rashed, Assistant Director Sheikh Mozahid, Surveyor Zillur Rahman, Mamun, and members of police force.
