Police have arrested seven members of an inter-district robbery gang for allegedly robbing Tk 47 lakh and gold from a gold trader.
Several police teams conducted drives in Dhaka and Munshiganj and arrested the accused robbers.
Md Shamsul Alam Sarkar, Superintendent of Munshiganj Police, provided this information in a press briefing held at his office on Monday.
The arrested individuals are: Roni, 48; Sirajul Islam Jabed, 42; Shamim, 42; Saimon, 32; Momin, 42; Sujor, 30; and Somir Hossain, 42.
Earlier, on October 23, the robbers looted money and gold from a man named Ram Prasad Haldar while he was traveling to Munshiganj from Dhaka by bus.
The arrested individuals have confessed to their involvement in the crime, the police official added.
