The High Court on Tuesday issued a rule asking the government to explain why an order should not be given to form a commission to re-investigating the 2009 BDR mutiny at Pilkhana.

An HC bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debashish Roy Chowdhury issued the rule following a preliminary hearing of a writ petition.

Petitioner Adv Tanvir Ahmed was present during the hearing.
The secretaries of home affairs and law ministries, the cabinet secretary, the inspector general of Police and the RAB director general have been made respondents and asked to explain within four weeks.

Adv Tanvir filed the petition with another lawyer on October 20 seeking the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the 2009 BDR mutiny.

The petition also sought instructions to declare the day of the BDR mutiny as Martyred Soldiers' Day and to provide compensation to the victims.
