Jamaat leader 'stabbed dead' in Jashore

A local Jamaat leader was allegedly stabbed to death by miscreants in Jashore's Kholadanga on Monday night.

The incident happened around 7:30 pm.
The victim Aminul Islam Sajal, 44, was a resident of Kholadanga area. He was the president of Gazi Bazaar unit Jamaat.

According to locals, Aminul Islam has a sanitary shop in Kholadanga area. In the evening, he was returning home from his shop through the road behind a fertilizer godown.  At that time, a gang of terrorists stopped his movement, stabbed him and ran away.

Later, locals rescued him and took to Jashore General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Jashore Hospital emergency department doctor AKM Sujat Hossain said that the body of the victim has at least 10 stab wounds. He died due to excessive bleeding.

Jamaat-e-Islami Jashore District Unit Publicity Secretary Professor Shahabuddin confirmed that the victim Aminul Islam Sajal was the president of Jamaat's Gazi Bazar unit in Kholadanga area.

Jashore Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Razzak said that he visited the scene. A team of police and DB has launched an operation to nab the accused.

'According to the family, the murder may have happened due to a dispute over land. However, the police have started investigation from various issues', he added.
