Bangladesh national cricket team began training at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE ahead of their three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. However, left-arm pacer Nahid Rana and spinner Nasum Ahmed, who were set to join the squad, faced visa delays and have not yet reached the UAE.
The squad, arriving in two groups, completed their arrival on Sunday, though Nahid and Nasum remain in Bangladesh due to these visa complications. A BCB official confirmed they are awaiting final visa clearance.
The series, starting on November 6 with all matches at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, will serve as Bangladesh’s preparation for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan next year. Following this series, the Tigers will head to the West Indies for a full tour, covering all three formats.
Squad: Soumya Sarkar, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Zakir Hasan, Nazmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Touhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali Anik, Mehidy Hassan Miraz (Vice Captain), Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Nahid Rana.
In their ODI history against Afghanistan, Bangladesh holds a slight advantage, with 10 wins out of 16 encounters. This series will be crucial for the Tigers to gauge their form and strategy ahead of more significant international tournaments.
