BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said on Monday, "People will decided through a transparent general election which political party they will accept or reject."

Speaking at a press conference at National Press Club organised by Swadhinata Forum, a pro-BNP platform,  to commemorate November 7, National Revolution and Solidarity Day, he said, "We were requested to clarify BNP's stance on banning the Awami League and Jatiya Party, but why should BNP  clarify its position on this issue?"

"The people as well as BNP want the interim government to quickly hold the general election. Restoration of democracy will serve as a form of punishment of those who had undermined it," he said.

Gayeshwar said that, political parties should not engage in retribution against each other. We are fighting for democracy.

"People will decide through election who should be rejected and who should be accepted," said Gayeshwar.

He said that, the term 'reform' became stigmatised during the one-eleven political changeover due to ulterior motives of those involved in making one-eleven .

Gayeshwar said that, while there is widespread support for state reforms, attempts to consolidate power by banning a political party or promoting depoliticisation will not serve the nation's interests.

"Those who deserve banning have, in effect, banned themselves and fled, now there is no one to raise their banner or voice their slogans," he said.
He said  Sheikh Hasina fled due to her  history of violating law.
