There is no alternative to ensuring female education to empower women and improve quality of their life for building a youth-driven discrimination-free Bangladesh.

This opinion came on Monday at a women's rally organized by the District Information Office (DIO) at Satdorgah Girls' High School premises in Pirgachha upazila in Rangpur district.

Director of Rangpur District Information Office Mofkekharul Iqbal attended the rally as the chief guest with its Assistant Director Md Alamgir Kabir in the chair.

Headmaster of Satdorgah Girls' High School Md Rafiqul Islam addressed the rally as special guest.

Moderated by Assistant Director of Rangpur District Information Office Tanya Taznin Memi, about 300 female students, working women, housewives and female entrepreneurs participated in the event.

Alamgir Kabir in his welcome speech said that the nation is going to build an equity-based society free from all forms of discrimination and exploitation to ensure equal rights of all citizens, including women.

"Both men and women should equally come forward to attain this goal" Alamgir said, adding that there should not be any discrimination to the women in establishing a youth-driven prosperous, discrimination-free and accountable Bangladesh.

The chief guest said that half of the country's population is women. Therefore, the involvement of women in the overall development of the country should be increased.

Regarding female education, he said, the government is implementing multifaceted programs to expand women's education for their empowerment to improve their quality of life.

Regarding child marriage, he said, child marriage is a social disease. Child marriage is a major obstacle in building a modern Bangladesh.

"Everyone should be vocal in preventing child marriage. Any child marriage incident should be reported to the administration immediately," he said.
