DAULATPUR, KUSHTIA, Nov 4: A bridge over the Mathabhanga River adjacent to Kholisakundi College at Kholishakundi Union in Daulatpur Upazila of the district has been turned into a death trap, causing immense public sufferings and frequent accidents.

After breaking of its both side-railings, developing holes and breaking in the middle, this bridge has been highly risky. At present, the bridge has almost been unfit for communications.

Locals said, the bridge can collapse anytime, causing fatality. Yet, taking higher risks, they are using it. Accidents are occurring on it regularly.

The risk is mostly lying with school-college students who pass over the bridge in an utmost fear.

There has been a long demand by the locals for newly constructing the bridge.

This is the only road of the bridge for people of 5-6 wards of the union for communicating to and from Kholishakundi and Daulatpur.

Daulatpur Upazila Assistant Engineer Md Shamim Alam said, a feasibility study  report under 'Detailed Design of Union and Village Road Constructions' project has been sent to authorities concerned; if all things go properly, it will be possible to re-construct the bridge rapidly.
