The runway operation of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) will be closed for 3 hours and 30 minutes from 1:00 AM to 4:30 AM from November 8 to November 14 2024 for runway maintenance.
All flight landing and take off operations at the airport will be temporarily suspended during this repair period.
The airport's executive director and group captain Mohammad Kamrul Islam confirmed the information to the media on Monday (November 4).
He explained that one of the routine maintenance activities for flight operations at the airport includes the maintenance of the runway lighting system. The closure will occur nightly from 1 AM to 4:30 AM Bangladesh time, amounting to 3.5 hours of downtime. During this time, all runway operations and flight activities will be temporarily halted.
Notices have already been issued to all relevant airlines and organizations regarding this closure, he said.
Kamrul Islam also advised passengers to check their flight schedules in advance and to confirm with their respective airlines. He recommended that passengers contact the airport's call center at 13600 if they have any questions or require further assistance.
Previously, the runway was closed for maintenance for 3.5 hours daily from October 1 to October 14 of this year.
