Ex-addl secretary, son held with 11 iPhones, huge cashes

Former additional secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (LGRD) Mohammad Amjad Hossain and his son were arrested by joint forces from their Uttara residence in the capital on Sunday night.

During the raid, joint forces seized cash Taka 1 crore and 9.5 lakh, some foreign currencies, 11 iPhones and some branded watches from the house in sector-11.

Uttara West Police Station duty officer SI Mohammad Rafiqul Islam confirmed the arrest on Monday morning.
Getting a secret information, around 10PM on Sunday,  joint forces conducted a drive at house no 33. After the four-hour drive, the team seized the case money and iPhones and also arrested the former minister and his son.

In 2020, Mohammad Amjad Hossain retired as additional secretary of the LGRD ministry.
