A man, accused in 11 different cases, was fatally shot to death on Sher-e-Bangla Road near Alkatra Mill in Khulna on Saturday night.
Two other individuals were also injured in the attack and are currently receiving treatment in police custody at Khulna Medical College Hospital's prison cell.
The deceased was identified as Ashikuzzaman Rasel, 27, also known as "Pangu Russell" and the injured are identified as Sajib, son of Humayun Kabir, and Yasin, son of Abdul Hannan Sheikh.
According to police and locals, a group of youths arrived in the area on three motorcycles, shot Rasel twice in the chest, and inflicted wounds on both his legs with sharp weapons. The attackers also injured the other two victims with machetes.
Local residents took the injured to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Rasel dead upon arrival.
Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that the incident stemmed from a conflict over drug trafficking.
Sonadanga Police Station OC Md. Shafiqul Islam, confirmed Rasel's involvement in criminal activities, including cases related to drugs, weapons, and robbery, with a total of 11 cases filed against him. Police are currently preparing a case concerning the murder.
