A student was stabbed to death reportedly over a prior conflict in Bogura on Saturday night.

The incident took place in the Thengamara area of Sadar Upazila.

The victim, Ali Hossain Sourav, 19, was a second-year student at TMSS Textile Engineering Institute and son of Abdul Momen from the same area.

According to locals, around 10 PM on Saturday, Sourav was sitting at a shop with his cousin when several friends joined them. Shortly after, Sourav left with his friends. Moments later, one of his friends called Sourav's family, informing them that he had been injured in a motorcycle accident and admitted to TMSS Hospital.

However, upon reaching the hospital, his family found his body. The friends who had brought him there were nowhere to be found, having fled after leaving his body at the hospital.

Bogura Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge SM Mainuddin said that Sourav's body showed multiple wound marks on the head and other areas, leading to initial suspicions of homicide. The suspicious disappearance of his friends is also being investigated closely.

The OC added, "The body has been sent for autopsy at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. The exact cause of death will be determined after the autopsy. Sourav's father has indicated he will pursue legal action. Upon receiving a formal complaint, we will initiate a thorough investigation and take legal measures accordingly."
