According to field sources, in the morning when Sujan was fishing in his enclosure, Shilan Sana, son of late Nazrul Sana, kept an electric trap on his land to kill rats. Sujan came in contact to the live electric trap and died.

Rafiqul Islam, elder brother of Sujan, said, "In the morning, my younger brother went to sweep leaves around the fence. As he was late in coming, I went to search for him and found him lying dead in an electric rat trap next to the paddy field. Later on, the police was informed."
