Traffic week in Khulna to raise social awareness

KHULNA, Nov 3: Traffic Week-2024 began on Sunday morning in the district.

Under the theme 'Nirapad Sarak Nagarik Adhikar, Bastobaone Proyojon Sokoler Angikar,' the Traffic Division of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) outlined a comprehensive programme on the occasion of the seven-day traffic week.
The inaugural function was held with a procession at Shibbari intersection in the city. KMP Commissioner Zulfiqar Ali Haider attended the event as the chief guest.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Traffic & Protocol) Taslima Khatun, deputy police commissioners Rashida Begum, S M Shakiluzzaman and Md Tazul Islam, KMP officials, active students who took part in the anti-discrimination student movements, representatives of NGO, Nirapad Sarak Chai and Transport Owners-Labourers organization, attended the event.

As part of the Traffic Week-2024, KMP's Traffic Division has organised various awareness programmes. These included distributing leaflets to drivers, passengers, and pedestrians, conducting sessions on traffic signs, raising public awareness about the Road Transport Act, placing banners at key locations, and holding views-exchange meetings with workers, bus owners, and students and teachers from different schools, colleges, and universities.

The campaign also featured participation from Rover Scouts, Red Crescent, Girls Guide, BNCC members, and students from various educational institutions.

KMP commissioner said, "We should be aware about traffic laws and enhance social awareness about it."
Later on, a colourful rally was brought out, and it paraded different roads in the city.
