Eight shops burnt in Pirojpur

PIROJPUR, Nov 3: At least eight shops were gutted by fire in Nazirpur Upazila of the district recently.

The incident took place at Gawkhali Bazar under the upazila.

Local sources said that the fire originated from electric short circuit began at a hardware shop in the market, and it soon engulfed the adjacent shops. 

On information, Nazirpur Fire Service personnel rushed to the scene and controlled the blaze after two hours of frantic effort. 

Meanwhile, eight shops were completely burnt at that time.

The affected traders claim that goods worth about Tk 60 lakh were damaged due to the fire.
 
Nazirpur Upazila Nirbahi officer Arup Ratan Shinha visited the scene.
