Bangladesh suffered a three-wicket defeat to Sri Lanka in the second semifinal of the Hong Kong International Sixes today and failed to make it final.
Opting to bat first, Bangladesh put up 103 before being all out in the stipulated six overs but Sri Lanka overhauled the target with one ball to spare.
Bangladesh earlier lost their group phase match to Sri Lanka and therefore this was the game for them to take revenge alongside moving to the final.
The openers Jishan Alam and Abdullah Al Mamun gave the side a flying start with Jishan hammering 11 ball-36 while Mamun making 16 off four.
Saifuddin scored 23 not out off 12 while Abu Haider Rony contributed six ball-18.
Sri Lanka gave a fitting reply, sharing 58 runs for the opening stand which eased their job. Opener Sadun Wikradi blasted 50 off 16 and then retired as per the tournament rules.
Bangladesh then got back to the game with two quick wickets but that didn't prevent them from losing the game.
Sri Lanka will take on Pakistan in the final. —BSS
