Dengue: Four more die, 1,306 hospitalized

Four more people died of dengue while 1,306 additional patients were hospitalized with viral fever across the country in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), with the new casualtiesthe death toll from the mosquito-borne disease rose to 314 this year.

In the recent fatalities, two were reported in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and one each in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Chattogram division (outside of the city corporations).

Of these, 277 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka North City Corporation, while 144 were hospitalized in Dhaka South City Corporation.
Currently, 4,112 patients are receiving treatment in various hospitals across the country.

Since January 1, 2024, a total of 64,471 dengue cases have been reported.

Last year was particularly severe, with 1,705 deaths recorded, making it the deadliest year on record.
