The ferry service on Paturia and Daulatdia route resumed on Sunday morning three hours after its suspension due to dense fog.

Over 50 passenger buses and 100 goods-laden trucks were stranded on the river banks at both ends, causing suffering of the passengers and others.

Moreover, two ferries named Barkta and Birshreshtha Jahangir in the middle of the Padma river and eight ferries at the both terminals were halted.

Abdus Salam, assistant general manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) in Aricha sector, confirmed the matter saying that they suspended the ferry movement to avoid any unwanted incident at 4:30am.

The ferry service resumed around 7:30am, he added.
