The Supreme Court in a notice directed all concerned authorities of hotels and restaurants to stop the use of listed single-use plastic and banned polythene bags in the Supreme Court and lower court areas. These hotels, restaurants have been asked to use the suggested alternative products.
It also gave similar instructions to all the subordinate courts and tribunal authorities to stop the use of banned polythene at the hotels and restaurants at the court premises.
Earlier, on October 24, under signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Aziz Ahmed Bhuiya through two separate notifications gave these instructions, which were published on the Supreme Court website on October 28.
It has been stated in the notifications that the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has sought the sincere cooperation of the Supreme Court along with the courts under its jurisdiction and the Supreme Court to stop the use of single-use plastic and prohibited polythene bags listed in the hotels and restaurants located in the court premises.
In this situation, the Supreme Court and the hotels-restaurants located in the Supreme Court premises have been directed to stop the use of single-use plastic and prohibited polythene bags.
