Dhaka University has decided to hold discussions with students and stakeholders regarding the government's decision to establish a separate administrative system for the seven colleges under its affiliation.
A notification from the university's public relations office on Saturday said the caretaker administration had not held any discussions before arriving at this decision.
A potential date for the discussions with students and stakeholders has been set for Sunday.
The university believes that these discussions will lead to a 'sustainable and peaceful' resolution to the issue.
A few years ago, the ousted Awami League government transferred the management of the seven public colleges in Dhaka from the National University to Dhaka University.
The colleges are Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Girls' College, Government Bangla College, Government Titumir College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, and Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College.
Students of these colleges have been protesting regularly for several days in demand for the transformation of their colleges into an independent university.
There have also been calls from Dhaka University students to annul the affiliation of these colleges.
