Two cousins drowned in a pond at Daulatpur upazila in Kushtia district on Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened at around 5:00pm at Harinagasi village under Rifaitpur union in the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Nur Amin, 5, son of Khoda Box, and Fatima, 4, daughter of Khoda Box's brother Mizar Ali, residents of the area.

Locals said that the duo were playing on the bank of a pond next to their houses. When family members sensed their absence, they began to search for them. Later, they found the children floating in the pond and rushed them to a local hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.

Abdul Mannan Rana, chairman of Rifaitpur union parishad, confirmed the incident.
