Man killed as speedboat collides with trawler in Meghna River

MUNSHIGANJ, Nov 2: A man was killed and four others were injured after a speedboat collided with a trawler in the Meghna River in Sadar Upazila of the district on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Shanto Ahmed, 35, joint convener of Sadar Upazila Juba Dal.
Locals said that a trawler collided with a speedboat in Jazira area at around 10 pm, which left four people including Shanto severely injured.

Shanto was initially treated at Munshiganj General Hospital before being shifted to a private hospital in Dhaka, where he died at around 2 pm on Saturday.

Officer-in-Charge of Munshiganj Sadar Police Station Khalilur Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
