KALIGANJ, GAZIPUR, Nov 2: Police arrested a young man for allegedly killing his wife in Uttargau Village under Kaliganj Upazila of the district on Thursday night.
The arrested man is Mozammal Bapari, 22, son of Abul Hossain, a resident of Uttargau Village under Ward No. 7 in Kaliganj Municipality.
Earlier, on Tuesday night, Mozammal Bapari strangled his wife Alia Begum to death and staged a drama of suicide.
Later on, the father of the deceased filed a murder case against five people including Mozammal under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Kaliganj Police Station (PS) on Wednesday.
Following this, police conducted a drive in Uttargau Village and arrested Mozammal on Thursday night, said Md Alahuddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kaliganj PS.
The accused has confessed to his involvement in the murder, the OC added.
