National Cooperative Day observed in districts

The 53rd National Cooperative Day was observed on Saturday across the country in a befitting manner. This year's theme of the Day is - "Somobaye Gorbo Desh, Baishammohin Bangladesh."  

To mark the Day, different programmes were organized in districts including Khulna, Chapainawabganj, Patuakhali and Rangamati.
KHULNA: Speakers in a meeting here said that cooperative makes people mentally strong and play role of poverty alleviation through creating employments.
Cooperative is a collective effort formed and managed on the basis of justice and devotion by the spontaneous participation of people. Practicing brotherhood, collective efforts and values in cooperative institutions can play a role in establishing a discrimination-free society.

Administrative officials and other stakeholders made the observation while addressing a post-rally discussion in the city on Saturday calling for finding effective ways and means to attain strength and prosperity in every sphere of national life and for making the cooperatives movement a total success. 

In cooperation with the district administration, Department of Cooperatives and Cooperatives Union of Khulna jointly organized the discussion meeting in the conference room of the deputy commissioner's (DC) office in the city to mark the National Cooperative Day-2024.

Additional Commissioner (Development) of Khulna Division Abu Sayed Md Monjur Alam addressed the discussion as the chief guest with DC Md Saiful Islam was in the chair. 

Joint-registrar of the Department of Cooperatives Md Mizanur Rahman presented the keynote paper. 

Members of Cooperatives Union Md Harun-or-Rashid and Suraiya Khan, among others, also spoke on the occasion. District Cooperatives officer Sayed Jashim Uddin delivered the welcome speech.

The chief guest also emphasised the importance of training youths to be good human resources to potentially end unemployment in the region. He, however, said that rural people have started reaping enormous benefits from cooperative activities to enhance productivity in every sector to cut poverty and achieve self-reliance.

On the occasion, nine best cooperative societies and three cooperative men were given crest and certificates of six districts for their laudable contribution to the field of promoting cooperatives.

Earlier, a colourful rally was brought out from the city's Shaheed Hadis Park. It paraded different streets and ended on the DC office premises. 

CHAPAINAWABGANJ: The 53rd National Cooperative Day was observed in the district on Saturday like elsewhere in the country with the slogan 'Cooperative to build discrimination-free Bangladesh'.

Different programmes were organized in the district on the occasion of the Day.

After hoisting the national flag in front of the DC office in the district town at 10:15 am, a colourful rally was brought out participated by the officers and employees of the district administration and Cooperative Department.

After parading the main roads of the town, the rally ended at the same venue.

Later on, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the DC office in the town with Additional DC (ADC) (General) Md Nakib Hasan Tarafdar in the chair.

Deputy Director of Local Government Department Debendra Nath Oraon attended the meeting as the chief guest while Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) (Crime and Operation) Md Nuruzzaman attended the function as the special guest.

Chapainawabganj District Cooperative Officer Md Mostafizur Rahman delivered the welcome speech.

Members of Cooperative Societies Tania Begum, Matiur Rahman and Md Gazi, among others, also spoke on the occasion.

PATUAKHALI: To mark the Day, the district administration and District Cooperative Department jointly organized different programmes in the town.

The Day's programme began with hoisting of the national and cooperative flags on the DC office premises in the morning.

After that, a colourful rally was brought out from the DC office premises, and it ended at the same place after parading the main streets of the town.

Later on, a discussion meeting on the significance of the Day was held in the conference room of the DC office. Acting DC of Patuakhali Juwel Rana was present as the chief guest while District Cooperative Officer Sushmita Goldar presided over the meeting.

ADC Jadav Sarker and ASP Ahmed Mainul Hasan attended the programmes as special guests. 

After the discussion, two cooperative societies and a cooperative person were given crests and certificates for their outstanding contribution in the society.

RANGAMATI: On this occasion, different programmes were organized in the district.

Rangamati Hill Tract Zilla Parishad and District Cooperative Department jointly organized a discussion meeting at the Annex Bhaban of the Zilla Parishad in the town at around 10 am. 

Rangamati DC Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan was present as the chief guest while District Cooperative Officer Mousumi Bhattacharya presided over the meeting. 

Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad Khandaker Mohammad Rizaul Karim, Deputy Assistant Register of the District Cooperative Department Mintu Barman, Organizing Secretary of District Furniture Cooperative Society Tareq Ahmed, President of Karatkal Bahumukhi Samabay Samity Momtaz Mia, President of Karnaphuli Janakalyan Bahumukhi Samabay Samity Babul Kanti Nath, Shining Mohila Samabay Samity President Mithila Roy, General Secretary of the Cooperative Society of the district administration Jagatjyoti Chakma, and ICCA Committee President Kanika Chakma, among others, were also present at the programme.

After the discussion, seven cooperative organizations of the district were given crests and certificates for their outstanding contribution in the society.
