Five found dead in four districts

Five people including a minor child have been found dead in separate incidents in four districts - Jamalpur, Kushtia, Manikganj and Barishal, in three days. 

JAMALPUR: Police on Friday morning recovered the body of a minor boy, who went missing after falling in the Jinjiram River in Dewanganj Upazila of the district on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Yasin, 12, son of Sahamat Ali, a resident of Jhalurchar Village in the upazila.

Police sources said that Yasin went to a brinjal field along with his mother near the river on Thursday afternoon. Suddenly, he fell in the river and remained missing. A team of divers of Fire Service and Civil Defence searched him for long, but failed to trace him.

Later on, local people found the body of the child floating in the river on Friday morning and informed the matter to the police.

Being informed, police rushed to the scene and recovered the body.

KUSHTIA: The body of assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Kumarkhali Police Station (PS) Mukul Hossain, who went missing in the Padma River after being attacked by fishermen in the district, has been recovered.

His body was recovered from the river in Najirganj area under Sujanagar Upazila of Pabna District at around 8 am on Wednesday.
Earlier, a diving team of the Fire Service and Civil Defence recovered the body of another ASI Sadrul Hasan from Shilidah Ghat area of Kushtia on Tuesday afternoon.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pabna's Sujanagar PS Golam Mostofa said that locals witnessed a floating dead body in the river at around 8 am and informed the matter to the police. 

Later on, the dead body was recovered under the joint initiatives of Najirganj Camp Police and River Police. They then became confirmed that the dead body was of Mukul Hossain, an ASI of Kumarkhali PS in Kushtia, who went missing in the river after falling from a boat of fishermen.

Kumarkhali PS OC Nazrul Islam said that they contacted with Sujanagar PS in this regard.

MANIKGANJ: Two people were found dead in separate incidents in Singair Upazila of the district on Wednesday.

Police recovered the body of an expatriate from under the hyacinth in the Dhaleshwari River of the upazila in the afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Ujjal, 35, son of Md Lokman Molla, a resident of Uttar Kangsha Village under Talebpur Union in the upazila. 

The deceased's family sources said that Ujjal recently returned to the country from abroad. Someone called him and took him out of the house at the night of October 12. He had been missing since then. 

Later on, local people spotted his body under the water hyacinth on the bank of the Dhaleshwari River adjacent to the Kangsha Bridge under Talebpur Union in the upazila at around 4 pm and informed the matter to the police.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

On the other hand, police recovered the body of a teenage boy from a paddy field in the upazila in the morning.

The deceased was identified as Abu Bakkar, 14, son of Alam Molla, a resident of Masail Village under Nawabganj Upazila in Dhaka. He was an auto-rickshaw driver by profession.

Quoting the deceased's family members, police sources said that Abu Bakkar along with his auto-rickshaw went of the house in the morning of October 26, but did not return. He had missing since then. 

Later on, local people spotted his body lying in a paddy field near Shantipur Police Investigation Centre in Chandahar Union under Singair Upazila of the district at around 8 am and informed the matter to police.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Police assumed that both the deceased might have murdered by miscreants in separate incidents.

However, two separate murder cases were filed with Singair and Nawabganj PSs in these connections.

Singair PS OC Md Jahidul Islam confirmed the incidents.

BARISHAL: Police recovered the floating body of a fisherman, who went missing in the Kalabadar River after the collision between two engine-run boats two days back, from the river in Mehendiganj Upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Robiul Islam Robi, 25, son of Selim Dhali, a resident of Sreepur Adarsha Village under the upazila.

Quoting locals, Mehendiganj's Kaliganj Naval Police Outpost Inspector Animesh Halder said that two engine-trawlers were collided with each other in the Kalabadar River in Sreepur Nasir Miar Bhata area of the upazila at around 10 pm on Monday last, which left one of the fishermen missing in the river. 

A team of divers from the Fire Service rushed to the scene on Tuesday morning and started a operation, but failed to locate him. 

Later on, local people spotted the body of Robi floating in the river in Laraipur area of the upazila at around 2:30 pm and informed the matter to police.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

However, necessary steps would be taken in this regard, the police official added.
