Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of a trader in Savar, who was fatally stabbed during a robbery on November 29.

Among the arrested, a suspect has confessed to the crime during preliminary questioning, confirmed Dhaka District Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Md. Jashim Uddin at a press conference held at Savar Model Police Station on Saturday.
The arrested are Md. Iman, 16, son of Fazel Sarkar from Pabna, Rakibul Hasan Rakib, 20, son of Jahangir from Bhola, and Ali Hossain, 19, son of Rokon Uddin from Kishoreganj. They are reportedly professional members of a robbery gang operating in Savar's Dilkhushabagh, Bonpukur, and nearby areas.

According to police, the victim Arshaduzzaman, 44, a vegetable trader, was attacked on November 29, shortly after arriving in Savar from Rangpur early in the morning. The assailants stabbed him and snatched Tk 700 and a mobile phone.

Locals found the severely injured trader and rushed him to Enam Medical College Hospital where he was declared dead by the attending doctor.

Following a case filed by the victim's nephew, Jahangir Alam, under the directives of the District Superintendent, the police tracked down the suspects within 72 hours.

Later, one of the suspects, Iman, has admitted to his involvement in the murder and was sent to court to provide a statement under Section 164. The remaining suspects were also presented in court.

Police have confirmed that all three are linked to the murder and robbery. Further investigation is underway to identify additional suspects if any are involved, added the police official.
