Another group of 70 Bangladeshi expatriates, who are stranded in war-hit Lebanon and applied to return home voluntarily, will arrive in Bangladesh on Sunday.
Their flight, transiting through Dubai, is expected to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 11PM on Sunday, according to a statement from the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut issued on Friday.
The embassy stated that arrangements have been made for those applicants with valid passports, residence permits, and essential travel documents to return to Bangladesh under embassy supervision.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs sources, a total of 268 Bangladeshi nationals have been repatriated from Lebanon so far at government expense.
This includes 54 people who returned in the first batch on October 21, 96 individuals on two flights on October 23, 30 people who returned at midnight on Monday, and 36 who returned on Tuesday night.
The repatriation efforts are being coordinated in partnership with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) to ensure the safe return of Bangladeshis affected by the ongoing conflict in Lebanon.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely collaborating with the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment to facilitate the safe repatriation of Bangladeshi nationals stranded in Lebanon.
The Bangladeshi Embassy in Beirut has made significant efforts to ensure the safe return of those who wish to come back while also guaranteeing the safety of those who prefer to remain.
