Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (ADSM) coordinators and spokespersons of Fasibad Birodhi Chhatra Sramik Janata, a platform mostly comprising leaders and activists of Gono Odhikar Parishad (GOP), on Friday announced to hold counter rallies in front of all offices of Jatiya Party (JP) across the country.

Student coordinator Rifat Rashid said they would wipe out JP from the country, branding the party as collaborators of Awami League.
At a press conference at Dhaka University (DU) Student-Teacher Centre (TSC) in the afternoon, Bin Yamin Molla, President of Bangladesh Students' Rights Council, student wing of GOP, declared that the counter-protests would begin at 11:00am simultaneously in front of JP offices nationwide.

Bin Yamin accused the JP of being a close ally of the Awami League.

He demanded that the government ban JP, arrest its leaders, and prosecute them for supporting the AL during the July Revolution.

"I do not understand how the police can permit a rally for the Awami League's ally," he said, adding, "Do they want more bloodshed? ... We are prepared to make sacrifices, as we did in July and August, but we will not allow the JP to hold political programmes in this country."

Bin Yamin further demanded that the interim government clarify its position regarding the AL, JP and other like-minded parties, questioning if it intends to hold elections alongside them.

"We do not want the AL, JP, or any of their allies in parliament," he added, accusing the JP of attempting to reinstate the AL through political maneuvers.

Speaking at the press conference, another GOP leader Mashiur Rahman alleged that JP and AL supporters attacked their peaceful programme on Thursday near a JP office, injuring him and others.

Mashiur, also a member of the National Citizen Committee, said they had no connection with the fire attack at the JP office.
"Following the attack on us, agitated people set fire to the JP office," he claimed, countering accusations by JP Chairman GM Quader that he and Bin Yamin were involved in the fire attack.
