Dhaka Metropolitan Police have prohibited all meetings, gatherings, processions, and demonstrations at the Jatiya Party's office in Kakrail and surrounding areas on Saturday.
Ahead of the party's rally and the ongoing standoff between two groups, DMP served a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Md Mainul Hasan on Friday.
DMP announced that, to address the recent situation and maintain public order, all meetings, gatherings, processions, and demonstrations are prohibited at House-66 on Pioneer Road (JP office) in Kakrail, and surrounding areas under the authority
of Section -29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance.
According to eyewitnesses, a group of individuals - many wearing helmets and armed with sticks - entered the JP office in Kakrail through the main entrance. Chanting slogans, they tore down banners and festoons, vandalized furniture, and then set fire to the building's front and several rooms inside on Thursday evening.
