An elderly woman was murdered reportedly by her grandson following a minor dispute at Tala upazila Satkhira district on Friday.
The incident occurred on Friday morning in Shalikha Gucchogram village under Khesra union of the upazila.
The deceased Sakhina Khatun, 70, was widow of late Kawsar Joardar and resided in the same village.
The accused, Hanif Joardar, 23, a college student studying for his degree at Shalikha College, is reported to have killed his grandmother at their residence around 11:30 AM on Friday.
Citing locals, local Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Sheikh Kamrul Islam Laltu said that an argument between the grandmother and grandson escalated following a minor dispute, prompting Hanif to take a knife and fatally wound his grandmother by slitting her throat.
Confirming the incident,Tala Police Station inspector (investigation) Md Faruk Hossain said that the body was recovered and brought to the police station.
The accused has been taken into custody and he admitted to the crime during primary questioning, he added.
