A total of 30 people have been arrested along with drugs in separate drives in 14 districts - Rajshahi, Noakhali, Khulna, Bogura, Barishal, Cox's Bazar, Bhola, Rangamati, Rajbari, Jashore, Pirojpur, Narayanganj, Dinajpur and Brahmanbaria, in recent times.
RAJSHAHI: Four people were detained along with drugs in separate drives in the district recently.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three brothers along with 1,500 litres of liquor from Tanore Upazila on Thursday morning.
The arrested men are: Minu Sing, 38; Mithun Sing, 35; and Shanto Sing, 26; residents of Kazipara Village in the upazila.
The information was provided through a press release by RAB-5 on Thursday afternoon.
The press release said that, acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area and arrested Shanto Sing along with 1,037 litres of liquor. They then detained the other two brothers along with the rest of the liquor.
Legal action has been taken in this connection, the press release added.
On the other hand, members of RAB, in a drive, arrested an alleged drug peddler along with 600 grams of heroin from the district early Tuesday morning.
The arrested man is Ariful Islam, 42, a resident of Sanhuan Ghunti area under Godagari Upazila of the district.
The RAB sources said that acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the residence of Ariful, recovered the drugs and arrested him at around 4 am.
A case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with Godagari Police Station (PS) in this connection and later, Ariful along with the seized drugs was handed over to the police.
Meanwhile, RAB members recovered 2.1 kilograms of heroin from Godagari Upazila recently.
RAB sources said that on information, an operation team of RAB-5 from Chapainawabganj Camp conducted a drive in Sarmongla Village under Godagari Upazila in Rajshahi.
Sensing the presence of RAB members, an alleged drug peddler fled away leaving a football behind, the sources added.
After cutting the football, the elite force found 2.1 kg heroin.
Later on, the elite force handed over the heroin to the police of Godagari PS and recorded a general diary with the PS.
NOAKHALI: Two people were arrested along with drugs in separate drives in Hatiya and Begumganj upazilas of the district in two days.
Members of Bangladesh Navy arrested a drug dealer along with 85 yaba tablets from the Hatiya Upazila on Wednesday morning.
The arrested person is Khokon Mia, 42, son of Abu Taher, a resident of Ward No. 8 under Charking Union in the upazila.
Navy sources said that on information, a team of the force conducted a drive in the Ward No. 8 under the union in the morning and detained Khokon Mia along with the yaba tablets.
After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Hatiya PS, the arrested was handed over to the police.
Earlier, Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested a man along with 80 bottles of foreign liquor from Begumganj Upazila in the district on Tuesday.
The arrested person is Nur Mohammad, 50, son of late Chan Mia, a resident of Purba Maichhchara Village under Andarchar Union in the upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of District DB Police Ashraf Uddin said that on information, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in Gonipur area under Chowmuhani Municipality on Tuesday and detained Nur Mohammad along with the foreign liquor worth around Tk 3 lakh.
A case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with Begumganj PS in this regard, the DB Police OC added.
KHULNA: Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), in separate drives, arrested three drug peddlers along with drugs in the last 24 hours in the city.
Police also seized 50 litres of local made brewed wine, 15 bottles of phensedyl and 200 grams of hemp from their procession, said a KMP press release on Tuesday.
Police went on operation in Rangpur Bakultala area under Arongghata PS and arrested Chandan Bala, 23, on Monday night. Police also seized 50 litres of local made wine from his possession.
In another drive, police arrested Milon Khan, 35, along with 200 grams of hemp from Saat Rasta intersection under Khulna Sadar PS on Monday afternoon.
Earlier, Police arrested Arifa Khatun, 22, from Pabla Kabir Battala intersection under Daulatpur PS along with 15 bottles of phensidyl, the press release added.
NANDIGRAM, BOGURA: Police have arrested three alleged drug peddlers along with four kilograms of hemp from Nandigram Upazila in the district on Tuesday.
The arrests were made on Tuesday night in Ichhapur area along the Bogura-Natore highway.
The arrested persons are: Uttam Pramanik, 31, hails from Kumgram Village under Singra Upazila in Natore; Ripon Sarkar, 28, from Dharmapur area under Phulbari Upazila in Kurigram; and Jahangir Alam Apel, 30, from Ghamlapur Village.
According to police sources, they received information that passengers in a Natore-bound CNG were transporting illegal substances. Acting on this tip-off, Kundarhat Highway Police Outpost In-Charge Monowaruzzaman along with Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdur Rahman and other officials intercepted the CNG.
Upon searching the suspects' bags, they found four kilograms of cannabis.
Nandigram PS OC confirmed that a case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act with the PS and the arrested were produced before the court on Wednesday afternoon.
BARISHAL: Police arrested two women along with 1.1 kilograms of hemp from Banaripara Upazila in the district on Tuesday morning.
The arrested persons are: Jasmine Begum, 40, and Suma Begum, 36. Both of them are residents of Sadhurbattala area under Kawnia PS in Barishal City.
Police sources said that on information, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in Banaripara Bus Stand at around 6:30 am and arrested the two women along with the hemp.
After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Banaripara PS, the arrested women were sent to the jail at noon following a court order.
Banaripara PS SI Al-Mamun confirmed the matter.
COX'S BAZAR: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a Rohingya youth along with a total of 50,000 yaba tablets from Teknaf Upazila in the district on Monday morning.
The arrested man is Md Omar Faruque, 18, son of Nur Basar, a resident of a local Rohingya camp in the upazila.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of BGB conducted a drive on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf highway and checked a bus at around 10:30 am.
During the drive, the BGB arrested Omar Faruque along with the drugs from a Cox's Bazar-bound bus of 'Paira Paribahan'.
Lieutenant Colonel Md Mohiuddin Ahmed, commander of BGB's Teknaf Battalion 2, confirmed the matter.
MONPURA, BHOLA: Police arrested a grocery shop owner along with 100 yaba tablets from Monpura Upazila in the district early Monday.
The arrested person is Mizan, 40, son of late Rafizal, a resident of FAkirhat area under Hazirhat Union in the upazila.
Police sources said that on information, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in the grocery shop of Mizan at Fakirhat Bazar at around 12:30 am and detained him along with the yaba tablets.
After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Monpura PS, the arrested man was produced before the court in the morning.

RANGAMATI: Three people including two women were arrested along with drugs in separate drives in Sadar and Kaptai upazilas of the district recently.
Police, in a drive, arrested a man and his wife with 9,785 pieces of yaba tablets from Manikchhari Paurashava under Sadar Upazila.
The arrested were Md Wasim, and his wife, residents of Riazuddin Bazar area in Chattogram District.
Additional Superintend of Police (ASP) in Rangamati Md Saiful Islam said that on information, a team of the law enforcers detained the couple from a passenger bus after searching it in Manikchari Check Post area and seized the contraband drugs.
A case was filed with the PS concerned in this connection, the ASP added.
On the other hand, police arrested a listed female drug dealer along with hemp from Kaptai Upazila in the district recently.
The arrested woman is Fulbanu, 50, daughter of Daru Mia.
It was known that acting on a tip-off, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in Ward No. 5 under Natun Bazar Dhakaiya Colony Union of the upazila, and detained Fulbanu along with 100 grams of hemp.
She was an accused in a number of drugs cases. After filing of a new case under the Narcotics Control Act with Kaptai PS, the arrested was produced before the court.
Kaptai PS OC Md Masud confirmed the matter.
GOALANDA, RAJBARI: Police arrested two drug peddlers along with heroin from Daulatdia Poravita area under Goalanda Upazila in the district recently.
The arrested men are: Shahin Mondol, 32, and Sopon Chowdhury, 50, residents of Goalanda Municipality.
Police sources said that acting on a tip-off, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in the area and arrested them from a road adjacent to Shahid Minar under Poravita area in the upazila. Then, police recovered five grams of heroin from their possession.
The arrested have been produced before the court after filing of a case against them under the Narcotics Control Act.
Goalanda Ghat PS OC Md Rakibul Islam confirmed the matter.
JASHORE: Joint forces arrested three drug peddlers along with 62 kilograms of yaba tablets from Sharsha border area in the district recently.
The arrested individuals are: Josim Uddin, 38; Sagor, 35; and Imran, 29, residents of the upazila.
It was known that acting on a tip-off, a team of joint forces consisting of RAB and BGB personnel conducted a raid and arrested them from Bahadurpur border in the upazila along with the drugs.
Flight Lieutenant Md Rasel, acting captain of RAB-6, confirmed the matter.
PIROJPUR: Police arrested drug dealer along with yaba tablets and phensedyl from Sadar Upazila in the district recently.
The arrested man is Azgar Ali Sheikh alias Ful Mia, 55, son of late Ansar Ali Sheikh, a resident of Ward No. 6 Uttar Namazpur area under Pirojpur Municipality.
ASP (Crime and Operation) in Pirojpur Md Mukit Hasan Khan said that on information, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in Ward No. 6 Uttar Namazpur area and detained the man along with 200 yaba tablets and two bottles of phensedyl.
Pirojpur Sadar PS OC Md Sobhan Hossain confirmed the matter, adding that a case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with the PS in this connection.
NARAYANGANJ: DB Police arrested three drug dealers along with 150 bottles of phensedyl from Siddhirganj area in the district recently.
The arrested persons are: Md Saimon, 26, son of Rafiqul Islam Hiru Mia of Disa Bandar area under Monoharganj PS; Md Omar Faruq, 24, son of Aman Ullah of Dhanpur area under Sadar Dakshin PS; and Md Sabbir Hossain, 24, son of Bellal Hossain of Baropara area under Kotwali PS in Cumilla.
District DB Police Inspector Md Habibur Rahman said that acting on a tip-off, a team of the force conducted a drive in Chattogram Road Bus Stand area of Siddhirganj in Narayanganj, and nabbed the trio along with the phensedyl.
A case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with Siddhirganj PS against the arrested persons in this connection, the DB Police official added.
BOCHAGANJ, DINAJPUR: Members of BGB arrested a drug dealer along with 394 bottles of phensedyl from Bochaganj Upazila in the district recently.
The arrested person is Md Nurul Mia, son of late Mahir Uddin, a resident of Dakshin Tetra Doldangi Village under the upazila.
BGB sources said that acting on a tip-off, a team of the Parmeshwarpur Dakshin BOP of Chhatail Union in the upazila conducted a drive in the house of Nurul Mia and arrested him along with the phensedyl.
After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Bochaganj PS, the arrested was sent to the jail following a court order.
Bochaganj PS OC Md Hasan Jahid Sarker confirmed the matter.
BIJOYNAGAR, BRAHMANBARIA: DB Police arrested a man along with 22 kilograms of hemp from Bijoynagar Upazila in the district recently.
The arrested man is Md Juwel Mia, 30, son of late Shahjahan Ali, a resident of Ward No. 4 Dulalpur Purba Para area under Bishnupur Union in the upazila.
It was known that on information, a team of District DB Police led by its SI Saiful Islam conducted a drive in an orchard at Bokhtarmura Sakin in Bishnupur Union, and arrested Juwel along with the hemp.
At that time, another drug peddler, named Rubel, 36, managed to flee the scene.
