NAGESHWARI, KURIGRAM, Nov 1: After breaking of its railings, the Dhonigagla Amtala Bridge in Nageshwari Upazila of the district has been risky, for which small and big accidents occur regularly.

In 1992, the bridge was constructed by Union Pariashad beside Dhonigagla Amtala Bazar at Santoshpur Union.

In the last several years, railings of both sides of the bridge got broken. As the bridge is not wide enough for vehicular movement, transports are falling into ditch. After evening, pedestrians find it as a panic spot.

General people, farmers, and students of school and college are suffering on the risky bridge.

Aged local Ali Molla said, authorities concerned never took any repairing initiative. Prayer performers use the bridge in scare  while going to mosque for Fazr and Esha prayers.

Abdus Sattar Ali said, "Our children don't want to go to school for broken railings of the bridge."

A pedestrian, Hazrat Ali said, the bridge was measured for many times; but it was not repaired; and, a few days back, one fell down along with ice-cream box. His hand and leg bones were broken.

Upazila Engineer Asif Iqbal Rajib said, after inspection of the bridge, repairing work will be taken.
