The body of a madrasah student was recovered from the Padma River of Goalanda upazila in Rajbari district on Friday morning, two days after he went missing.
Locals found the body of Jubayer Hasan, 12, floating near Daulatdia ferry terminal in the upazila around 7 AM.
Jubayer, a sixth-grader of a local madrasa, went missing on Wednesday afternoon while bathing with two classmates in the river near the terminal. Efforts by a team of divers from Aricha Fire Station, who were dispatched to assist, proved unsuccessful after extensive searches.
Goaland Fire Service & Civil Defense Station Leader Sabekul Islam told, "With no divers in our area, the Aricha Fire Station dive team began search operations that evening, but after 90 minutes, there was no sign of the boy. Rescue efforts resumed on Thursday but ended at noon without success."
Inspector Emran Mahmud Tuhin, head of the Daulatdia Naval Police Outpost, confirmed, "After two days, Jubayer's body surfaced in the river, and locals recovered it. Necessary legal procedures will be followed by the naval police."
