Man dies as tree branch falls on him

HAZIGANJ, CHANDPUR, Oct 31: An elderly man was killed as a branch of a tree fell on him in Haziganj Upazila of the district recently. 

The incident took place in North Raycho Village under Borokul West Union of the upazila.
 
The deceased was identified as Abbas, 60, a resident of the area. 

It was known that some woodcutters were cutting a tree in the vicinity when a branch of that tree unexpectedly fell on Abbas as he was passing underneath, which left him critically injured.
 
He was then rescued and taken to Haziganj Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. 
Being informed, police recovered the body.

Officer-in-Charge of Haziganj Police Station Md Mohiuddin Faruque confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this connection.
