Five journos acquitted of cyber crime at Nabinagar

NABINAGAR, CUMILLA, Oct 31: Five journalists in Nabinagar Upazila of the district, who were accused in the case under the cyber security act, have been acquitted.

A bench of Justice Jahirul Kabir of Cyber Tribunal-Chattogram acquitted them on Tuesday. 

Former Municipality councillor Nilufar Yasmin of Nabinagar filed the case against them on January 5, 2023.

They are: Mahbub Alam Liton (Dainik Samakal), former president of Nabinagar Press Club, J E Bulbul (Asian TV), Safor Ali (Dainik Bortoman Nabinagar), Mominul Haq Rubel, general secretary of Nabinagar Thana Press Club, and Md Babul Mia (Amar Desh).

Their lawyer Swarup Kanti Debnath said, after hearing of the statements of both sides, the tribunal set these five journalists free. 

Advocate Hasan Reza Nazmi Bhuiyan David was the plaintiff.
