Schoolgirl killed in Manikganj road accident

A schoolgirl was killed and her parents were injured after a goods-laden truck hit a motorcycle in the Tara bridge area on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Manikganj district on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mithila Das, 12, daughter of Liton Das, a resident of Nali village under Shivalaya upazila in Manikganj. She was a seventh grader at Savar Laboratory School and College.

Liton Das said that he, along with his wife and daughter, was heading to Manikganj from Savar on a motorcycle. When they arrived in the area at around 5:00am, a truck hit the motorcycle, leaving Mithila dead on the spot and injuring her parents.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to Munnu Medical College Hospital.
