A local leader of the BNP, who sustained injuries in a clash between two factions of the party in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga, died late Wednesday.
The deceased was Sultan, 45, a resident of the Khalisha Para area of Natuda union, was a joint secretary of ward No. 1 (covering Gachiar Para and Khalisha Para) unit BNP.
On October 23, two factions of the BNP locked into clash over establishing supremacy and previous enmity. Six people from both groups were injured during the clash.
Critically injured Sultan was taken to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital and later shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Sultan died at the hospital after eight days. Other injured returned home after treatment.
Damurhuda Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Humayun Kabir has acknowledged the matter and said a case has been filed against five individuals on October 28 in this connection.
Police have, so far, arrested an accused Sohrab, 60, from Gachiar Para village, listed in the case, he said adding that they continue drives to apprehend other suspects.
