Police have arrested three alleged drug peddlers along with four kilograms of hemp in Boguras Nandigram upazila on Tuesday.
The arrests were made on Tuesday night in Ichhapur area along the Bogura-Natore highway.
The arrested are identified as Uttam Pramanik, 31, from Kumgram village at Singra upazila in Natore, Ripon Sarkar, 28, from Dharmapur at Phulbari upazila in Kurigram; and Jahangir Alam Apel, 30, from Ghamlapur.
According to police sources, they received information that passengers in a Natore-bound CNG were transporting illegal substances. Acting on this tip-off, Kundarhat Highway Station officer-in-charge Monowaruzzaman, along with sub-inspector Abdur Rahman and other officers, intercepted the CNG.
Upon searching the suspects' bags, they found four kilograms of cannabis.
Nandigram Police Station OC confirmed that a case has been filed under Narcotics Control Act and the arrested were presented in court on Wednesday afternoon.
