Bangladesh 'W' clinch SAFF Championship title again

Bangladeshi tigresses made history again by winning the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women's Championship-2024 title, beating Nepal by 2-1 atDashrath Rangasala Stadium in Nepal's Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Bangladeshi side scored two goals in either half to clinch the title and silence the boisterous home crowd.

In the proceeding, the first half of the SAFF Championship final between Bangladesh and Nepal ended in a goalless draw.
Later, the both teams came out strong after the break, eager to score, which led to an action-packed series of attacks. In the 51st minute, Monika Chakma scored to give Bangladesh the lead. Bangladesh broke the deadlock early in the second half with Tahura and Sabina Khatun exchanging passes near the box. In the resulting scramble, Monika Chakma received the ball and skillfully placed it into the net.

However, Nepal quickly responded to level the score in just three minutes later with a goal by Amisha Karki. A precise through ball from midfield found Amisha, who broke through Bangladesh’s defense and beat advancing goalkeeper Rupna Chakma.

In the meantime, Ritu Porna Chakma's cross finds the back of the net as Nepali Chelis skipper Anjali is caught napping. The home crowd were stunned and silence descends in the Dashrath Rangasala Stadium.
