A minor child drowned in a pond at Lalmohan upazila in Bhola district on Wednesday.
The incident took place at Nayanigram area under ward No. 4 of Lalmohan municipality.
The deceased was identified as Fahmida Akter, 3, daughter of Md Shahabuddin Nirob, from the area.
According to the family members, Fahmida was playing with other children on the bank of the pond. At one stage, she fell on the pond when she tried to pick up a ball from the pond.
Sensing her absence, relatives started searching for her and found her body floating in the waterbody.
However, she was rescued and taken to Lalmohan Upazila Health Complex where the physicians declared her dead.
Lalmohan Police Station officer-in-charge Md Sirajul Islam said they were not informed about the incident.
