Eight nabbed with drugs in four districts

Eight people were arrested along with drugs in separate drives in four districts - Rajshahi, Cox's Bazar, Khulna, and Brahmanbaria, recently. 

RAJSHAHI: Police in an anti-crime drive arrested an alleged drug peddler with 600 grams of heroin from Godagari Upazila of the district on Tuesday night.
 The arrested was Kawsar Ali, 32, of Char Asariadaha Village in the upazila. 

 On a tip-off, a team of the Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted a raid in his locality and arrested Kawsar and recovered 600 grams of contraband heroin from his possession around 10:40 pm.

 A case was filed with Godagari Police Station (PS) in this connection, and the arrested person with the seized contraband goods was sent to court at noon.

COX'S BAZAR: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a Rohingya youth along with a total of 50,000 yaba tablets in Teknaf Upazila of the district on Monday morning. 

The arrested man is Md Omor Faruque, 18, son of Nur Basar, a resident of a local Rohingya camp. 

Acting on a tip-off, a team of BGB conducted a raid on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf highway and checked a bus at around 10:30am. During the raid, BGB arrested him with the drugs from a Cox's Bazar-bound Paira Paribahan bus. 

Lieutenant Colonel Md Mohiuddin Ahmed, commander of BGB's Teknaf Battalion 2, confirmed the matter.

KHULNA: A total of five drug pedlars were arrested in the district on Monday and Saturday by Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) and joint forces in separate drives in the district.

Three of them were arrested in the city.

Police also seized 50 litres of local made brewed wine, 15 bottles of phensedyl and 200gm hemp from their procession, said a KMP press release on Tuesday.

Police went on operation in Rangpur Bakultala area under Arongghata PS and arrested Chandan Bala, 23, last night. Police also seized 50 litres of local made wine from his possession.

In another drive, police arrested Milon Khan, 35, along with 200gm hemp at Saat Rasta Intersection under Khulna Sadar PS on Monday afternoon.

Earlier, Police arrested Arifa Khatun, 22, from Pabla Kabir Battala Intersection under Daulatpur PS along with 15 bottles of phensyl, the press release added.

In another drive, members of joint forces in a drive arrested two drug-peddlers in Batiaghata Upazila of the district on Saturday night.

The joint forces also seized uniforms of army and police along with fake identity cards, 508 pieces of yaba, one kilogram hemp, 15 pieces of banned syrup, mobile phone and huge lethal weapons from their possession.

Officer of West Zone Coast Guard Lieutenant Mahbub Hossain disclosed the matter in a press briefing held in the Khulna BCG headquarters in the city on Sunday.

On secret information, a team of the joint forces comprising Coast Guard and police went on the drive on Saturday night in Baintala Bazar area in the upazila.

They arrested drug-peddlers and kingpin of cheating syndicate Md Sahed Hossain, 30, and his associate Fuzzat Ali, 32.
They had been committed crimes by wearing these uniforms for a long time, he added.

Criminals will be handed over to Batiaghata PS for taking legal action, he maintained. 

BIJOYNAGAR, BRAHMANBARIA: Police arrested a man along with 350 yaba tablets from Bijoynagar Upazila in the district on Sunday afternoon.

The arrested person is Alamgir Hossain, 35, son of late Shawkat Ali, a resident of Pakshimulia Village under Sarail Upazila in the district.

It was known that on information, a team of the law enforcers from Aulia Bazar Police Outpost led by its In-Charge Ranjan Kumar conducted a drive in Aulia Bazar Aira road area of the upazila at around 4 pm, and detained Alamgir along with the yaba tablets. 

After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Bijoynagar PS, the arrested was sent to the jail following a court order.
