Six more die of dengue, 1312 hospitalised

Six more people died of dengue while 1,312 new patients have been hospitalised with the Aedes mosquito-borne disease across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours till Tuesday morning.

According to the daily update of Directorate General of Health Services, with the new counts, the number of hospitalised dengue patients has reached 59,420 so far this year, and 286 people died among them.

Of them, 322 were admitted to hospitals under the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) while 181 were hospitalised in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). 

As many as 4,016 patients, including 1,928 in the capital, are currently undergoing treatment for dengue in hospitals across the country. 

Last year, 1,705 people lost their lives due to dengue, making it the deadliest year on record.

The DGHS recorded 3,21,179 dengue cases and 3,18,749 recoveries last year.
