A team of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), led by its administrator Md Hafizur Rahman, visited Kaptan Bazar in the capital on Sunday, in a bid to keep the prices of chickens and eggs stable and also to keep the supply chain intact.

The market monitoring cell of the FBCCI made the visit to the kitchen market where the FBCCI administrator collected updated information on the price of eggs and the supply situation.
Later, while exchanging views with the leaders of Kaptan Bazar Egg Businessmen Multipurpose Cooperatives Association, Hafizur sought support from the wholesale and retail egg businessmen to keep the prices of such items within the reach of the commoners, said a press release.

Noting that the FBCCI wants to see the role of the businessmen in keeping the market stable, the FBCCI administrator sought information about the market manipulators who want to create artificial crisis. "We'll hand over such information to the government while the government will take action accordingly."

He also mentioned that if necessary, the FBCCI market monitoring cell would monitor the chicken and egg supply situation at the suppliers' level.

In response, the former president of Kaptan Bazar Egg Businessmen Multipurpose Cooperatives Association Md Nazrul Islam said that they would continue to supplement such operations of the FBCCI.

He also hoped that the prices of such items would come down if those are sold at government fixed prices and there is sufficient supply according to demand.

Former FBCCI director Khandaker Ruhul Amin, other business leaders, Bangladesh Competition Commission representatives and student coordinators were present among others.
