Teen injured in Geneva Camp gunfire dies

A teenage boy, who was critically injured in gunfight at Geneva Camp in Mohammadpur, died on Monday morning while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka.

Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost, said the deceased Md Rahmat, 13, died while getting treatment at the ICU of the hospital at around 8.30AM. 

The body had been sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Earlier, a gunfight took place between two groups at Geneva Camp at around 6PM on Saturday over establishing supremacy in drug business, leaving three persons injured.

They were taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. Later, Rahmat and another injured person were shifted to DMCH as their condition worsened.

Rahmat suffered five bullet wounds in his hand, chest, and abdomen when he was returning home after taking water from a nearby water pump, said Shamsher Ali, father of Rahmat.
